I have never understood why women feel it is perfectly acceptable for them to whip out their breast and proceed to feed their baby in public. It's not.
I will never know the unique bond that so many women have with a child. The love and commitment one must feel knowing that little person was created inside your womb. To know you gave birth to life is awe inspiring, and I truly believe that and say that in all seriousness. I've never given birth but I have nieces and nephews who I love more than life itself and often thank God for their existence and the fact that their mothers "chose" to bring them into this world. So in a way, I understand how women that are mothers feel a special connection to their babies and the nurturing that springs from that.
However.....breast feeding, just as milking, is a personal act and should not be done in public. A woman's breasts are (IMO) the one body part that serves double duty (as it were). It is a sexual body part in that men are drawn to them, love to stare at them, touch them, kiss and suck them. As women, some of us purposely dress to accentuate them and garner attention from men. And they can be used to feed babies. Two separate and distinct functions all in one.
However, because they are primarily a sexual body part, it is unreasonable for any woman to expect men to have the capacity to "turn it on and off" in terms of how they view breasts. At least on the topic of the appropriateness of breast feeding in public. Your husband and father of your baby may be able to do that in the privacy of your home, but you shouldn't expect the average man walking down the street or sitting in a public venue to look at a woman with her breast out and a baby suckling (even if she has something draped over her shoulder) to not view her in a lustful manner.
To that end, if a man were to sit directly across from her as she is breast feeding and stare at her, I will bet all that I own that woman would be up in arms, angry and insulted that he would have the audacity to stare at her. Really? Hmmmm....what could be so interesting to catch his attention?
Now we have these mothers protesting at Target, having a "nurse-in" all gathered with babies suckling at their breasts. Drawing attention to their bodies and their perceived injustice by Target Management that restricts breast feeding within the stores. This is a joke.
Of all the issues one could and should protest, to protest for the right to pull your nipple out and allow a baby to suck on it in a public place is not only absurd, but speaks to their lack of perspective. These are the very women I assure you that are spitting mad about Girls Gone Wild videos which depict women lifting their shirts and exposing their breasts in public.
Oh I get it....it's okay as long as there is a baby hanging from them.
