Happy Valentine's Day!
This will be short and sweet I promise. Not because I don't have a lot to say on this topic, trust me I do. No, it will be short because what I have to say is no more than a wish for my fellow singles.
Valentine's Day is a commercial holiday in my opinion. A cynic would describe it as a holiday created by the greeting card companies to sell cards and flowers. I could see that. And that's okay. It is a time to celebrate love, romance and commitment.
When we were kids, Valentine's were the little cards with corny sayings like "I choo-choo- choose you as my Valentine"with a little choo choo train on it shaped like a heart. We loved getting those cards. Whether it was from a girl or boy, it was just the thought that we were chosen that made us happy.
Is that any different than today as grown ups. We all want to know we matter.....are special.....are wanted.
So my wish for all my fellow singles out there today....a day when everywhere we turn we are reminded we are not part of a union. We are missing that other half that supposedly makes us whole. Spend today focusing on not what you want from someone else, but what you have to give. My wish for you is to get in touch with who you are and what aspects and attributes you have to offer a potential lover.
Be honest with yourself. Make a list if necessary. That man or woman that is out there, waiting to meet you, "who" will they fall in love with? Valentine's day 2013, as you sit across a dinner table exchanging gifts or merely chatting, who will you be?
My wish for all of you is that between today and one year from now, you get in touch with all of the aspects that make you special and desirable. My wish for all of you is to love yourself first, so you will know how to love someone else. ♥♥♥
