This article and discussion angers me to no end.
There is novel that is raking in millions and is firmly situated on almost every woman in the world's bedside table called 50 Shades of Grey. It is a book that is laden with sexually explicit dialogue about S&M in its purest forms. And women that are all too happy to take to the streets and blog sites and decry women in pornography and the degradation so many women allow themselves to be used toward, see no problem in becoming sexually aroused by a book in which a man tells a woman to "...refrain from urinating, because it will make her orgasm all the more powerful when he makes her cum..." and is filled with explicit detail of his spankings, choking and binding of the books central character.
Yet a photo of a man that appears to me to be in the throes of passion, with his hand gently around his lovers throat results in a global up-rise of anger and charges that Vogue is glorifying physical abuse....that is just ridiculous! French Vogue has definitely pushed the envelope with some of their other more controversial covers, of that I agree. The 10 year old they featured in stiletto's was completely inappropriate and offensive.
But this? We live in a politically correct world where people need to take a deep breath and gain some perspective. This isn't even a case of possible abuse being on display. Clearly all of the people doing all the complaining have never caught of glimpse of what THEY look like in the throes of passion.
Geesh! Talk about a lot of to do about nothing.
